We all know all too well that cozy season is often associated with Pumpkin Spice everything-from lattes to candles. When the clock strikes midnight on September 1st, the pumpkin craze begins. But cozy season takes on a WHOLE new meaning as a next generation Latina. Cooler weather means all our favorites are back, baby! From Pan de Muerto to pozole, all the things that are tasty and make us feel warm and fuzzy are back in season. While my American side is thrilled about the fall season and pumpkin craze, the Latina side of me is jumping off the walls for all the comidas deliciosas that cooler weather brings! Let’s celebrate our Hispanic Heritage with a few cooler weather delights!
Atole

A warm, thick beverage made from masa, water, or milk, sweetened with sugar and often flavored with vanilla, cinnamon, or fruit. Atole is a comforting drink enjoyed during chilly mornings or festive occasions, offering a taste of home and heritage.
Champurrado

A rich, chocolatey variation of atole, champurrado combines masa with Mexican chocolate, water or milk, and spices like cinnamon. It is often served with tamales for a classic and cozy combination.
Pan de Muerto

A traditional sweet bread made around Día de los Muertos, often flavored with orange blossom water and decorated with bone-shaped designs. A must have during the months of October and November!
Tamales

A well-known traditional Latin American dish made from masa and filled with a variety of ingredients such as meats, cheese, vegetables, or chiles, then wrapped in corn husks or banana leaves and steamed. Tamales are a beloved comfort food often enjoyed during the fall and winter months, especially around holidays and family gatherings.
Buñuelos

A crispy, fried dough treat dusted with cinnamon sugar or drizzled with miel. Enjoy a buñuelo with a nice hot cup of café de olla during colder months.
Ponche Navideño

A warm fruit punch made with a blend of seasonal fruits like guava, tejocote, apples, and spices like cinnamon and cloves. Ponche is usually enjoyed during the holiday season.
Pozole

A hearty soup made with hominy and meat (usually pork or chicken), flavored with green or red chile, and garnished with toppings such as radishes, cabbage, onion, and lime. Pozole is a cozy dish enjoyed during colder months and holiday celebrations.
Café de olla

A traditional Mexican coffee brewed with cinnamon sticks and piloncillo, providing a warm, spicy, and comforting beverage that complements cooler weather perfectly.
Sopa de Fideo

Sopa de fideo is here to bring all the nostalgia. Whether for you it was sopita de letras, caracoles, or estrellitas, this soup is the ultimate comfort food to enjoy during the colder months. Sopa de fideo is a comforting noodle soup often made with tomato-based broth, making it ideal for chilly weather.
