Spring is so close, we can feel it! With a new season comes the desire to change, transform, declutter, or simply switch things up. Spring brings warmer, sunnier days, and we’re beyond ready dress accordingly.
We’re here to help you refresh your spring wardrobe and build a capsule around versatile, transitional pieces while keeping sustainability and budgeting front and center.
A well-curated capsule wardrobe makes getting ready less daunting, reduces over-consumption, and helps you get through the transition without buying an entirely new closet.
Read on to discover the small steps we take to transition our wardrobes and curate a capsule that will see us through the season.
What Is a Spring Capsule Wardrobe?

Before you start building a spring capsule, brainstorm what it might mean for you. For us, a spring capsule consists of a few versatile pieces that can be mixed-and-matched to create many looks. We consider fabrics, textures, and colors that suit our climate and individual lifestyles.
Our goal is to include a few accent colors, a balance of casual and polished pieces, and most importantly, to avoid the overwhelm of an overflowing closet with nothing to wear. We aim for ease of styling, more conscious and sustainable shopping, and spotlighting unique investment pieces from designers that speak to the individual consumer.
Ask yourself: what do you hope to achieve from building a spring capsule wardrobe?
Plan Your Capsule Wardrobe

When planning your seasonal capsule, consider the factors that most matter to you: lifestyle, work, weekends, monthly events, climate, workouts, and so on.
Next, choose season-appropriate color palettes, fabrics, and textures (feel free to skip this step if it doesn’t resonate). Decide how many garments you want in your capsule. We think 20-30 pieces is a great starting point (10-15 if you want to keep things very minimal). Add a few accessories and shoes as extras.
Finally, categorize your garments. We use four main categories: tops, bottoms, outerwear, and dresses/one-pieces. This structure makes outfit-building easy.
Essential Transitional Pieces

Everyone has their individual preferences. These essential transitional spring pieces are our personal favorites, optional, but inspirational when curating your own capsule.
A few staples we can’t do without:
- Lightweight, water-resistant trench
- Barn jacket or overshirt
- Oversized button-up (cotton or linen)
- Lightweight cashmere or fine-gauge sweater (pullover or cardigan)
- Slip dress (layered with a sweater, button-up, or tee)
- Wide-leg trousers in mid-weight fabric
- Tailored shorts
- Ballet flats
- Basic t-shirt
- Comfy sneakers
- Athleisure matching set
Use these pieces individually or pair them to create countless effortless spring outfits. A little effort up front means hassle-free styling all season.
Styling Tips

We’ve been dabbling in the art of layering and loving every second. Light layering is especially important in spring, when weather can flip between sunny, rainy, cool, and warm.
Here are some basic layering tips:
- Start with basics and build up – think tee, lightweight sweater, then trench.
- Mix colors and textures to keep outfits interesting and fun.
- Use accessories to add structure and visual interest – for example, use a belt to cinch your waist and/or structure and break apart an outfit
- Jewelry, sunglasses, bags, and hats are your best friends. Don’t be afraid to add color, texture, and varied shapes.
Happy curating!✨
