Let’s be real-life’s busy! We’re all trying to find a way to balance work, cooking and eating well, self-care, fitness, childcare, school, traveling, or whatever else is on our plates. It’s no secret that life stops for no one, and if you don’t get in control, things can quickly get out of hand.

Cooking and eating, especially when trying to eat well, can seem like a chore-exhausting, difficult, and frankly, a bit of a turn-off when it adds more tasks to our never-ending lists.

But don’t worry, we’ve come up with a few pointers on how to create a balanced meal plan, whether you’re always on the go or just not quite comfortable in the kitchen. Here are a few tips to help you create a balanced meal plan.

Plan Ahead
Plan your meals ahead of time. Whether it’s days in advance or even a week, create a simple menu outlining what meals you’ll eat on which days and at what times.

    Preferences
Choose, cook, and buy foods that you actually enjoy eating. Being motivated to eat the foods you select for your meals is crucial for sticking to your meal plan.

      Items on Hand
Pay attention to what ingredients you already have at home that can be used in various recipes. This not only saves money but also reduces waste.

      Dietary Needs
Listen to your body and fuel it appropriately. Consider factors such as your age, activity level, medications, and medical history to make meals suitable for your needs.

        Meal Prep
Dedicate some time each week to prepare a few meals in advance. This reduces the time spent cooking daily and it eliminates the stress of figuring out what to eat.

          Balanced Meal
A balanced meal fuels our body the way it needs. A balanced meal usually includes:

          • Protein: Turkey, tofu, chicken, fish, etc.
          • Carbs: Potatoes, rice, rice cakes, corn, oats etc.
          • Healthy Fats: Avocados, nuts, cheese, eggs, almond milk, etc.
          • Greens and Veggies: Your choice of fresh vegetables to complete the meal.

Creating a balanced meal plan might seem daunting, but when simplified, it’s much more approachable and attainable. Being conscious about your food choices can make a significant difference in how you feel. Not to mention, having a plan also helps save the thing we value most-time!
